The Engineering Internship Program
The ideal York Engineering intern is a highly motivated, proactive individual who is passionate about learning and excited to contribute to real-world space hardware and active missions. Each York Space Systems intern will have the unique opportunity to work on live York missions while participating in a tailored engineering training program.
- Interns are provided with a dedicated Senior Engineer as a mentor.
- Each intern is assigned a scope-bound project that is challenging yet achievable within the program’s duration.

Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the operations of a high-fidelity spacecraft.
- Operate multiple on-orbit spacecraft, ensuring their health, safety, and the execution of mission objectives.
- Collaborate with engineering subject matter experts to maintain spacecraft subsystem health, execute commissioning and mission activities, and troubleshoot anomalies.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and tool development.
- Execute a time-bound, well-defined project that provides high value to York.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, management, and customers to ensure projects are completed to the required standards.
- Proactively identify risks and formulate contingency plans.
- Communicate openly with the team about challenges, failures, and successes.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a 4-year engineering degree program at an accredited university.
- Must have completed at least the Freshman year of the degree program.
- Ability to commit to full-time on-site work for the duration of the Internship (40+ hours/week).
- Willingness to work a shift schedule, supporting 24/7 operations.
- Strong communication skills, a great team player, and a dedicated hard worker.
- A self-starter and self-motivated individual with a strong hunger to learn.
- Demonstrated interest in spacecraft and space systems.
- An interest in full-time employment at York Space Systems after graduation.
- Willing and able to work in our Greenwood Village, CO office (this is not a remote internship).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the following languages and operating systems: Python, C, SQL, Linux.
- Experienced in data-driven processes and operations to establish autonomous solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills in a team environment.
- Familiarity with procedures, anomaly documentation, and debugging.
- Active security clearance.
