Job Description
Job Title: Engineering Intern (5 positions)
Year: 2025
Locations: Various projects throughout southern California, specifically in Irvine, Montebello, Manhattan Beach, and San Diego.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Project Manager, an Engineering Intern may be assigned specific duties from the following list, with assignments tailored to the size and needs of the project:
• Financial & Project Controls:
• Prepare cost reports.
• Conduct cost look-ahead and look-back analyses.
• Process payments and subcontractor requisitions.
• Prepare and negotiate Additional Work Orders (AWOs).
• Update CPM schedules, including six-week and two-week look-aheads.
• Communication & Coordination:
• Submit Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Coordinate between various subcontractors and trades.
• Manage specific subcontractors, serving as the main point of contact and coordinator.
• Technical & Field Support:
• Produce or supervise the production of shop drawings.
• Supervise and inspect field work, potentially assuming full responsibility for specific locations within the jobsite.
• Coordinate with the superintendent, providing necessary drawings and explanations.
• Interpret drawing details and specification requirements, and effectively communicate them to the superintendent.
• Order long-lead and specialty materials, and track their inventory.
• Resolve technical issues in collaboration with the Architect/Engineer.
• Prepare submittals for work to be performed and track both submittals and RFIs.
• Redline drawings for as-built documentation.

Qualifications
• Education: Must be currently enrolled at an accredited 4-year institution.
• Field of Study: Pursuing a degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Experience (Preferred): Previous internship experience in heavy civil construction.
Compensation
The base hourly rate offered for this position is USD $25.00 per hour. This rate is specific to the role located in California. Actual hourly rates may vary for different individuals in the same role, based on factors such as experience, education, and performance.
