The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Equinix, located in Dallas, TX. Equinix is the world’s digital infrastructure company, operating over 260 data centers globally to provide a trusted platform for digital leaders. This role is crucial for managing the strategic energy needs of this vast infrastructure, contributing to cost management, risk analysis, and operational efficiency of global digital services. The intern will support the Energy team in analyzing market risks and commodity portfolios, directly impacting the company’s ability to scale with agility and support its sustainability goals.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Market Analysis: Support energy market and risk analysis, including tracking energy commodity exposure and comparing scenario outcomes.
• Portfolio Insights: Assist with the analysis of the energy and power commodity portfolio, focusing on key cost drivers and market trends.
• Intelligence Gathering: Gather and summarize relevant energy market intelligence, such as pricing signals, regional power dynamics, and proposed utility tariff changes.
• Invoice Processing: Review and process utility invoices, utility tariff schedules, and manage bill pay workflows for energy consumption.
• Calculator Development: Support the development and ongoing upkeep of energy cost and budget calculators for various projects and operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Energy, Finance, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Economics, or Sustainability.
• Experience: Penultimate year student with expected graduation between December 2026 – May 2027, available to work full-time for the internship duration.
• Skills: Proficiency in Excel, Power Point, Smartsheet, and Power BI; strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills; a strong interest in energy markets and commodities.
• Bonus: Participation in energy-focused trading, risk, or investment programs; exposure to power markets, utility tariffs, or commodity risk concepts; experience applying finance, accounting, or IT skills to analytical or operational problems; interest in infrastructure, data centers, or large-scale energy systems.
