Job Description: Emerging Talent Intern
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking an Emerging Talent Intern to contribute to their initiatives in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Intelligent Systems. This role is crucial for enhancing the efficiency and capabilities of the organization’s technological infrastructure.
Key Focus Areas:
The intern will primarily focus on building robust models, fostering collaborative relationships with existing staff, and developing innovative prototypes within the NLP and Intelligent Systems domain.
Responsibilities:
• Data Management: Collect and meticulously clean sample documents to create high-quality datasets essential for model training.
• Model Development: Build and refine Natural Language Processing (NLP) models.
• Algorithm Design & Testing: Design and rigorously test classification and tagging algorithms to improve data categorization.
• Collaboration: Work closely and effectively with Service Delivery Staff to integrate NLP solutions into operational workflows.
• Prototype & Dashboard Creation: Develop functional prototypes and interactive dashboards to visualize data and demonstrate proof-of-concept solutions.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for all code, models, and workflows, ensuring clarity and reproducibility.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest advancements and emerging trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
• Presentation: Present findings, project outcomes, and working demonstrations to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Software Proficiency: Must demonstrate strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Core Skills: Possess excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Work Ethic: Ability to perform effectively under pressure and prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Attention to Detail & Teamwork: Exhibit a keen eye for detail and the capacity to work independently while being an active and contributing team player.
• Academic Standing:
• Must be matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
• OR, matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with a minimum GPA of 2.8.
• Work Authorization: All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.
• Academic Documentation: Submission of the student’s official transcript is mandatory.
Preferred:
• Candidates with majors in the following fields are preferred: Business administration, public administration, public policy, engineering, engineering technology, economics, architecture, mathematics, physics, computer science, finance, accounting, transportation planning, industrial psychology, urban planning/studies, human resources management, labor relations, operations research, security management, or related fields.
