What We Look For In an Elementary School Math Tutor

  • Proficient in guiding students through skip counting, place value understanding, basic geometric reasoning, and measurement conversions.
  • Emphasizes discovery-based learning and adeptly connects mathematical concepts to everyday contexts like cooking, shopping, and telling time.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction:
  • Familiar with elementary math standards for grades one through five and common challenges students face (e.g., regrouping in subtraction, understanding fractions as parts of a whole, memorizing multiplication facts).
  • Ability to adapt instruction effectively using a variety of tools such as base-ten blocks, fraction strips, educational games, and multi-sensory approaches to support young learners at varying developmental readiness levels.
• Effective Teaching Methods:
  • Proven ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with.
  • Capability to explain material using multiple approaches and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong Communication & Engagement:
  • Excellent communication skills coupled with a friendly and engaging teaching style.
