What You’ll Actually Do
• Deliver Instruction: Provide personalized 1-on-1 online tutoring sessions to individual students, or accept instant, on-demand requests when available, utilizing our purpose-built Live Learning Platform.
• Simplify Concepts: Skillfully break down complex topics such as multi-digit operations, fundamental fraction concepts, and challenging word problems, employing hands-on manipulatives, illustrative drawings, and visual models.
• Diagnose and Adapt: Identify specific mathematical concepts that students commonly struggle with and effectively explain material using multiple, varied approaches to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Build Foundations: Guide young learners through essential mathematical skills including skip counting, place value understanding, basic geometric reasoning, and measurement conversions, building strong arithmetic foundations for future academic readiness.
• Support Learning: Adapt instruction using a range of tools like base-ten blocks, fraction strips, educational games, and multi-sensory approaches to support students at varying developmental readiness levels, emphasizing discovery-based learning.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess advanced subject mastery, including deep knowledge of number sense, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, basic fractions and decimals, measurement, time, money, geometry shapes, patterns, and introductory data interpretation. Familiarity with elementary math standards for grades one through five and common student challenges, such as regrouping in subtraction or understanding fractions as parts of a whole, is required.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to explain complex counting strategies, regrouping methods, and fact fluency while effectively building strong arithmetic foundations essential for upper elementary and middle school readiness. Proven skill in guiding students through foundational concepts and connecting math to everyday contexts like cooking, shopping, and telling time.
• Skills:
• Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Expertise in breaking down complex mathematical operations and guiding students through problem-solving using visual aids.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Capability to adapt instruction using various tools and multi-sensory approaches, informed by elementary math standards.
