Electrical Engineer Intern | Amentum
The Tone:
This is an Electrical Engineer Intern position at Amentum, supporting the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) for a 10-week summer program. Amentum provides essential services and solutions for critical government missions, and this role directly contributes to maintaining the operational readiness of vital Space Force assets. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience by researching and testing replacement parts for obsolete hardware, ensuring the continued functionality of critical systems. • Mission: Support the daily operations, projects, and strategic initiatives of the SFRC team by identifying and testing replacement parts for obsolete hardware and computers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Parts Research: Conduct thorough research to identify suitable replacement parts for obsolete hardware and computers within the SFRC systems.
• Parts Testing: Collaborate with senior engineers to order and systematically test candidate replacement parts to ensure compatibility and functionality.
• Documentation: Accurately record weekly research results and meticulously update existing process documentation with lessons learned throughout the obsolescence management process.
• Training & Support: Provide training to engineering staff and managers on newly updated processes and share insights gleaned from lessons learned during parts research and testing.
• Operational Support: Assist with a range of departmental activities including research, data collection, and coordination efforts to support SFRC operations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a college or university program as a sophomore or above, or a recent graduate within the last year. Candidates should be pursuing or have completed studies relevant to electrical engineering.
• Experience: Ability to manage tasks effectively, maintain organization, and consistently meet deadlines. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office suite tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills. A willingness to learn, adapt to new challenges, and contribute effectively in a team environment is essential. Must possess U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Bonus: Experience with data entry, research methodologies, or project coordination. Familiarity with digital collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams or SharePoint. Basic knowledge pertaining to SFRC’s focus areas, including operations, field services, research, or engineering.
