Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
This enriching summer internship position offers students a direct, hands-on opportunity to delve into the intricacies of how electric utilities design and maintain transmission and distribution power lines. Key responsibilities include:
• Asset Information Gathering: Assist in collecting crucial structure information for seamless asset integration.
• Industry Standard Software Experience: Gain practical experience with the transmission and distribution industry-standard program, PLS-CADD, by generating standard files and evaluating existing models.
• Project Reporting & Tracking: Work on diverse tasks related to project reporting, including tracking and evaluating project activities, progress, and associated data.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other disciplines and contribute to scheduling project deliverables.
• Field Verification: Undertake fieldwork to pre-field and post-field poles, ensuring all work adheres to utility standards.
• Unit Identification: Accurately identify completed units within projects.
• Project Management Support: Build projects using the Xcel SharePoint site and manage project permits.
• Internship Capstone Project: Prior to the internship’s conclusion, create and deliver a self-reflection presentation (in PowerPoint) to your direct management team. This project will detail gained industry knowledge, future career goals, and personal and professional growth experienced during the internship.
• Professional Development: Actively participate in the Lunch & Learn internship program provided by the MYR Group Internship Leadership team.
About You: Qualifications & Skills
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, candidates should possess the following:
Qualifications:
• Academic Standing: Currently a college sophomore or above working towards a related undergraduate degree, OR
• Trade School Enrollment: Currently enrolled in or attending trade school, OR
• Recent Graduate: A recent graduate (within 1 year of graduation date).
• Experience: No experience required. This is an entry-level learning opportunity.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Presentation Skills: Ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations.
• Organization: Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Teamwork & Independence: Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
