U.S. Expansion Intern — AI Real Estate Compliance | Vericasa

The Tone:
This is an unpaid educational internship at VeriCasa, located in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. VeriCasa is building AI infrastructure for real estate transactions, developing a platform that helps brokers, banks, title and escrow teams, and real estate operators automate document review, KYC/KYB, legal checks, contract generation, and compliance workflows. This role is crucial for exploring how AI can support U.S. real estate compliance workflows, specifically by understanding California residential closings, title, escrow, and transaction documentation.

The TL;DR

• Team: Reports directly to VeriCasa’s founders for regular guidance and mentorship
• Mission: To learn about the California residential closing process, title and escrow workflows, compliance documentation, and early-stage product discovery, presenting a final research summary.
• Tech Stack: AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, or similar tools

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Research the California residential real estate closing workflow, from accepted offer to recording, identifying key documents and compliance steps.
• Analyze: Study topics such as seller disclosures, escrow instructions, title reports, notarization, recording, FIRPTA, and identity verification processes.
• Organize: Help organize research findings into a clear workflow map and create a learning-based checklist of California closing steps and risk areas.
• Support: Support customer discovery preparation by identifying relevant market participants and joining selected discovery conversations where appropriate.
• Present: Prepare and deliver a final research presentation for VeriCasa founders summarizing findings and recommendations, including possible AI use cases.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current student or recent graduate from Stanford, UC Berkeley, or another strong business, law, public policy, computer science, economics, real estate, or technology program.
• Experience: Legally authorized to participate in an unpaid internship in the United States; prior real estate experience is helpful but not required.
• Skills: Strong at structured research, writing, and synthesis; able to turn messy information into clear frameworks, checklists, and recommendations; comfortable using AI tools for research and productivity.
• Bonus: Based in San Francisco or the Bay Area; interested in startups, AI, legaltech, proptech, fintech, real estate, or compliance; entrepreneurial, practical, and able to work independently; detail-oriented and reliable.
