Job Description: Editorial Intern

RFF is seeking a creative, detail-oriented editorial intern to join its communications team in Washington, DC. This is an in-person position only.

Key Details:
Job Title: Editorial Intern
Duration: Fall, starting September 2025, continuing through the fall semester.
Hours: 35 hours per week.
Location: Washington, DC office (in-person only).
Compensation: $18 – $22 per hour.
Target Candidates: Individuals with an interest in economics, environment and energy policy, journalism, or communications are especially well-suited.

Responsibilities:
The editorial intern will support the editorial team in various capacities, including:
• Providing promotion assistance for the Resources Radio podcast.
Translating technical information into accessible and compelling editorial content.
Proofing content, pitching article ideas, and writing for the Common Resources blog.
• Performing Resources.org website updates, maintenance, and photo selection.
• Undertaking other assigned duties, potentially depending on the intern’s specific skill set and interests.

Qualifications:
Relevant experience (academic, research, and/or professional) in one or more of the following: journalism, writing, communications, economics, environmental policy, environmental science, political science, or related topics.
Interest in economics and/or energy and environment issues and policy.
• Ability to work independently, comfortable taking initiative and asking for help.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Beneficial experience: Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, Google Drive, Asana, and similar project management tools.
Excellent communication skills and a desire to work as part of a collaborative team.
A plus: Interest and skills with Adobe Creative Cloud software, graphic design, photography, illustration, or podcast production software.
