Job Summary

Trexquant is seeking an Early Career Software Engineer with strong programming skills to join its dynamic engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with experienced engineers and quantitative researchers to develop the foundational infrastructure essential for systematic trading. This includes vital components such as data pipelines, back testing tools, and execution systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to greenfield development projects, allowing you to build innovative new systems from the ground up and drive scalability within the technology stack.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle development of low-latency, high-throughput research and trading systems utilizing C++, C, Java, or Rust.
  • Build and optimize critical data processing pipelines to ensure reliable access to large, high-quality datasets.
  • Assist in the development of sophisticated tools for back testing, model training, and strategy evaluation.
  • Collaborate actively with researchers and traders to deliver robust technical solutions that significantly improve research productivity and overall trading performance.
  • Participate diligently in code reviews, comprehensive testing, and detailed documentation to uphold the highest quality standards.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, cutting-edge tools, and industry best practices, continuously bringing innovative ideas to improve and evolve our systems.

Requirements

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, or a closely related STEM field.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming principles.
  • Proficiency in one or more core programming languages: C++, C, Python, Java, or Rust.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proven ability to learn quickly in a collaborative team setting.

Location & Compensation

This position is open for both the Stamford, CT office and a planned New York City office, which is scheduled to open in October 2026.

The base salary range for this role is $130,000 – $175,000, depending on the candidate’s educational and professional background. Please note that base salary is one component of Trexquant’s total compensation, which may also include a discretionary, performance-based bonus. This position is classified as overtime-exempt.
