E-Discovery Document Review Specialist | Office of the New York State Attorney General

The Tone:
This is a full-time attorney role at the Office of the New York State Attorney General, located in Latham, NY (Albany Area), with a hybrid work schedule available. The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) is a dedicated organization serving the people of New York State. This role is crucial within the Practice Technologies Group (PTG) as it supports OAG’s litigation and regulatory efforts by ensuring thorough and accurate eDiscovery document review.

• Mission: This person supports OAG’s cases by managing and performing document review projects for litigation and regulatory matters.
• Tech Stack: Relativity, Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Document Review: Review volumes of electronic documents using eDiscovery tools like Relativity for responsiveness, privilege, confidentiality, and issue cataloging, applying legal judgment.
• Redaction Application: Apply necessary redactions to documents, ensuring privileged information and personal privacy are appropriately protected.
• Quality Control: Perform quality control checks on reviewed documents to verify accuracy and consistency in coding and review decisions.
• Contract Attorney Management: Handle administrative functions for contract attorneys, including timesheet reconciliations, monitoring review pace, and quality checking their results.
• Collaborative Protocol Development: Collaborate with legal teams to develop review protocols tailored to specific case requirements and summarize review results for factual chronologies or issue summaries.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school.
• Experience: Active New York State Bar admission status (applicants admitted to practice in other jurisdictions may be considered); prior work experience with Relativity or similar e-discovery platforms.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, high attention to detail, organized with effective time management, collaborative, ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
• Bonus: Previous experience as a document review attorney, an understanding of the phases of the electronic discovery reference model, proficiency with Microsoft Excel, experience managing document review teams, expertise using and searching within the Relativity platform, or experience in other e-discovery platforms.
