Category Manager Intern (TikTok Shop – Operations) | TikTok
The Tone:
This is an internship at TikTok, located in Los Angeles, CA. TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, committed to inspiring creativity and bringing joy through its innovative product. The company is actively scaling its e-commerce platform, TikTok Shop, recognizing the tremendous growth and competitive landscape of the commerce industry. This role is pivotal within the entrepreneurial TikTok Shop US operation team, focused on pioneering Content & Creator commerce in the US by bringing discovery, inspiration, and joy back to shopping. The intern will directly contribute to building an innovative, secure, and intuitive e-commerce ecosystem, aiming to make TikTok the leading, on-trend commerce platform of choice for brands, creators, and shoppers.

• Mission: Acquire and incubate merchants to support category growth, discover innovative collaborative models, and solve key challenges to build a leading e-commerce experience.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Merchant Acquisition: Acquire and incubate new merchants to effectively support and drive category growth within TikTok Shop.
• Collaborative Model Discovery: Discover and implement innovative collaborative models that align with merchants’ short-term and long-term development plans, ensuring efficient investment of platform resources.
• Business Growth & Problem Solving: Collaborate strongly with cross-functional teams to identify and solve key challenges hindering business growth and operational efficiency.
• Strategic Consultations: Employ a consultative approach, offering strategic solutions across content, creator/affiliate/agency partnerships, merchandising, and logistical aspects to clients.
• Product & Promotional Updates: Keep clients informed on the latest TikTok Shop product developments and available promotional opportunities to maximize their success on the platform.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing an MBA Degree, demonstrating a foundational understanding of business principles and a keen interest in the commerce industry.
• Experience: Able to commit to working for a full 12-week duration during Summer 2026, adapting quickly to an entrepreneurial and evolving environment.
• Skills: Possess a quick learning ability, proactive mindset, and resilience to thrive in ambiguity and rapid change; demonstrate structured thinking, strong data sense, and very strong analytical capabilities; exhibit excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills, with the ability to move initiatives forward effectively; and show a passion for business, consistently aiming for higher goals.
• Bonus: Prior internship or full-time experience within an e-commerce marketplace business or retail category management; familiarity with the TikTok content ecosystem, shoppable content, and brand-creator partnerships.
