Category Manager Intern (TikTok Shop – Operations) | TikTok
The Tone:
This is an internship at TikTok, located in Los Angeles, CA, focusing on supporting the TikTok Shop US operations. This role is integral to the company’s ambition to transform the commerce industry by making TikTok the leading platform of choice for brands, creators, and shoppers. As an intern, you will contribute to scaling the #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt phenomenon, pioneering content and creator commerce in the US, and helping to build an innovative, secure, and intuitive e-commerce ecosystem. The team operates with an entrepreneurial spirit, aiming to create value for communities and embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and innovate, fostering an environment where continuous iteration leads to breakthroughs.

• Mission: This person will help build and scale the TikTok Shop US e-commerce ecosystem by acquiring and supporting merchants and fostering innovative collaborations.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Merchant Incubation: Acquire and incubate new merchants to drive category growth within TikTok Shop.
• Strategic Collaboration: Discover and implement innovative collaborative models that align with merchant development goals, investing platform resources efficiently.
• Business Problem Solving: Address critical business growth challenges by working closely with various cross-functional teams.
• Client Consultation: Provide strategic solutions to clients across content, creator/affiliate/agency partnerships, merchandising, and logistical needs.
• Product Updates: Inform clients about new TikTok Shop product developments and available promotional opportunities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing an MBA Degree, indicating a foundational understanding of business principles and strategic thinking relevant to e-commerce operations.
• Experience: Demonstrated commitment to completing a 12-week internship during Summer Fall 2026. Prior internship or full-time experience within an e-commerce marketplace business or in retail category management is beneficial.
• Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, including structured thinking and a keen data sense, to inform strategic decisions. Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills, with a proven ability to advance projects and initiatives. A proactive, resilient, and quick-learning approach, comfortable thriving in ambiguous environments and adapting swiftly to change. Demonstrates a strong passion for business with a drive to achieve challenging goals.
• Bonus: Familiarity with the TikTok content ecosystem, including experience with shoppable content and brand-creator partnerships, is advantageous; graduating December 2026 onwards with the intent to return to the degree program after the completion of the internship.
