Django Developer Internship | A tech company in San Diego County

The Tone:
This is a non-paid internship with a tech company based in San Diego County, available remotely. The company is seeking a Backend Developer Intern to contribute to building scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems for their product ecosystem. This role is crucial for delivering robust features, optimizing system performance, and ensuring reliable end-to-end functionality through clean, maintainable code. Interns will be evaluated for a possible paid role upon completion of the program.

• Mission: Design, build, and maintain backend services that power the company’s product ecosystem, ensuring scalability, security, and high performance.
• Tech Stack: Python, Django, AWS (Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, API Gateway), Google APIs, GitHub, RESTful API, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL, microservices, serverless architecture

What You’ll Actually Do
• API Development: Architect, develop, and maintain backend APIs and services using Python/Django.
• Cloud Deployment: Build scalable solutions deployed on AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, and API Gateway.
• Service Integration: Integrate third-party services, including various Google APIs like Maps, OAuth, and Workspace.
• Testing and Optimization: Implement robust end-to-end testing frameworks to ensure feature reliability and optimize application performance, security, and scalability.
• Collaboration and Support: Participate in code reviews, contribute to Git-based team workflows, and troubleshoot production issues.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Strong foundational knowledge in backend development, with a focus on building scalable and secure systems.
• Experience: 3+ years of backend development experience, including a minimum of 2 years specifically in Backend, APIs, and Python.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in Python and Django, hands-on experience deploying and managing infrastructure on AWS, experience with Google APIs, proficiency using GitHub for version control, and a solid understanding of RESTful API design, authentication, and data structures.
• Bonus: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, familiarity with Docker or containerized environments, knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL databases, and experience with microservices or serverless architecture.
