• Team: Global Pharma Strategy (GPS) team; leads large-scale, multidisciplinary teams with direct and indirect reports
• Mission: Lead the global strategic direction and portfolio development for the CVRM Disease Area, from early pipeline decisions through research, development, and commercialization.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Leadership: Lead large-scale multidisciplinary teams, influencing the Disease Area’s overall ambition and strategic, financial, and operational performance.
• Strategy Shaping: Contribute significantly to the 2030 Pharma vision by shaping the end-to-end Disease Area Strategies and plans.
• Portfolio Development: Partner with Research and Development, Business Development, Commercial Leadership Teams, and Global Medical Affairs to shape the future portfolio and lead early solution development within the Disease Areas.
• Global Oversight: Oversee a team of senior leaders accountable for coordinating and providing global, cross-functional leadership for research & development, technical, manufacturing, and commercial activities for multiple molecules.
• Strategy Implementation: Co-lead the Disease Area Team to develop and implement long-term, end-to-end Roche strategy in assigned Disease Areas, orchestrating strategic deliverables like pre-TPPs and breakthrough indication strategies.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s degree required, with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry and therapeutic area experience in CVRM. This role requires an outstanding people leader and developer in multicultural environments, with experience leading large cross-functional organizations in drug research, development, and pre-launch/launch phases.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead business and people through high-impact change and transformation, specifically across the entire cycle of strategy setting and execution for drugs and indications.
• Skills: Deep understanding and knowledge of the CVRM Disease Area competitive landscape, confirmed ability to work effectively in multicultural, matrix environments across numerous time zones, and outstanding partnership skills to improve results beyond direct management or influence.
• Bonus: MD, PhD, or MBA are strongly preferred. Willingness to travel globally ~30%.
