Futures Clearing – Operations- VP/Director | Mizuho

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mizuho, operating under a hybrid working model. Mizuho’s Futures Division is a critical part of the company, clearing trades across 30 global exchanges and managing over 70 balancing sheets. This role is vital for ensuring the accurate and timely clearing, allocation, and booking of all client and executing broker trades, while also driving crucial automation and process improvements to maintain operational excellence within the complex landscape of futures and options.

• Team: Futures Division Clearing team, reporting to a Clearing Manager
• Mission: Ensure all futures and options trades are accurately cleared, allocated, and booked while driving operational efficiency and process improvement.
• Tech Stack: GMI, LISA, DUCO, RPA

What You’ll Actually Do
• Trade Processing: Ensure all trades are cleared, allocated, and booked correctly in client accounts on the trade date.
• Issue Resolution: Liaise with Exchanges, carry brokers, and clients on trade issues, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
• System Expertise: Master the firm’s back-office systems and middleware, including GMI, LISA, DUCO, and RPA.
• Process Improvement: Lead and manage projects, drive automation, and streamline Clearing processes, including new business initiatives, in addition to daily operational activities.
• Team Mentorship: Provide guidance and assistance to team members, helping them resolve issues that require clear and in-depth process understanding.
• Compliance & Collaboration: Stay abreast of the latest industry and regulatory developments, provide prompt replies to Exchange, Regulators, and Auditors, and work closely with other departments such as Front Office, Compliance, and Risk.
• Shift Coverage: Cover the 12 pm – 8 pm shift to ensure seamless end-of-day processing, with flexibility to work on US holidays on a rotational basis.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Director-level experience with an in-depth understanding and subject matter expertise on Clearing processes, coupled with a firm understanding of the Futures & Options trade life cycle.
• Experience: 5-10 years of relevant experience, including working knowledge of GMI, LISA, and DUCO, and proven experience managing operational functions.
• Skills: Expertise in break resolution, proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook, excellent follow-through and attention to detail, strong time management skills to meet critical deadlines, and effective verbal and written communication skills to articulate issues and influence resolution.
