Director, Product – State & Local Government | Workday

This role matters because you will connect the specific needs of State & Local Government customers with Workday’s product development, ensuring the product suite and go-to-market strategies align with this key growth industry. You will directly influence revenue and customer value by bridging industry requirements with product solutions and enhancing AI product adoption.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze: Continuously analyze sub-industry performance and product-market fit across State & Local Government.
• Manage: Own a portfolio of 5 key industry accounts, guiding customer success, referenceability, and product advisory.
• Innovate: Identify and pursue innovative or partner-driven solutions for industry requirements not yet on the roadmap.
• Drive Adoption: Increase industry AI adoption and provide roadmap vision & strategy overviews to key customers and prospects.
• Partner: Partner with the Sales team on critical pursuits, providing product expertise and roadmap vision.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Director level leadership, with a background in product strategy, customer-facing roles, or industry expertise focusing on State & Local Government public sector needs.
• Experience: 10+ years of related work experience, including building strong customer relationships and driving customer success in complex, enterprise environments.
• Skills:
• Deep product knowledge, with the ability to translate industry needs into clear product requirements.
• Confidence presenting to and influencing executive audiences.
• Skill in developing business cases that connect industry opportunities to investment decisions.
• A track record of driving innovation, especially in identifying new solutions for unmet customer needs.
• Strong industry expertise in public sector, including an understanding of its unique priorities and challenges.
• Bonus: Prior experience working in State & Local Governments; expertise in the Workday product suite, particularly Financial Management & Spend products.
