Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Diamond Fabrication Intern to join our Diamond Fabrication team for Summer 2026. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in production, operations, and engineering to make new products, improve current products, and/or processes while working alongside industry professionals and contributing to meaningful projects that support our team and company objectives.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude to build and assemble equipment, as well as performing process testing with fabrication equipment.
  • Use of characterization equipment and analysis to baseline tools.
  • Assist with data collection and development in the production environment.
  • Work on assigned R&D projects.
  • Assist engineering staff with daily projects and duties.
  • Learn Diamond Fabrication machine operation and provide support where necessary.
  • Support department 5S initiatives.
  • Present on projects while speaking about any research or ideas to make improvements.

Education & Experience

  • Education Level Required: Bachelor’s / Master’s / PhD.
  • Completed a minimum of 2 years of bachelor’s degree by the start of the internship.
  • Majors: Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Material Science.
  • Relevant coursework or extracurricular experience in the field or tools is a plus.
  • Open to currently enrolled students or those who have graduated within one year of the internship start date.

Skills & Other Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and time management.
  • Programming and/or JMP experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of characterization equipment is a plus.

Internship Duration & Program Highlights

Internship Duration: 10 – 14 weeks.

Working Conditions

  • This role will be based on-site in [Insert work location].
  • Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary.
  • Operation of polishing and/or characterization equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or in meetings.
  • Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
  • Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
