Development Intern | GGP

The Tone:
This is an in-office internship at GGP, located in Chicago, IL. GGP is a leading retail real estate company that creates vibrant destinations across the United States, managing a portfolio of 110 high-performing retail assets. As an owner-operator, the company is committed to bringing people and brands together. This role supports the critical Development function, working directly with senior leaders up to the Chief Development Officer, and is essential in shaping the future of the retail real estate industry by delivering exceptional value to partners and communities.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Temporary (Summer 2026)
• Location: Chicago, IL (In-person)
• Pay: $22.50 hourly
• Team: Supports the Development function, reporting to leaders up to the Chief Development Officer
• Mission: To accurately coordinate project financial reporting and assist developers in evaluating investment decisions and managing budgets for the retail development pipeline.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Coordinate project financial reporting, including proforma updates, partner reporting, draw requests, and internal/external company reporting.
• Prepare proformas and monitor investment decisions to ensure integrity and accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist with the preparation and management of corporate departmental budgets and capital planning for the development pipeline.
• Evaluate the economic impact of leasing deals and anchor agreements on project returns.
• Communicate analytical and research findings to Senior Leadership, providing support for the retail development pipeline.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in College or University with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and May 2027. A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience: An academic background demonstrating suitability for an internship supporting development finance and analysis functions is essential.
• Skills: Self-motivated, proactive, organized with strong prioritization abilities, excellent interpersonal, creative, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously within a team environment.
