Deputy Director, Facilities Operations | County of Santa Clara

What You’ll Actually Do
• Oversight: Oversee facility operations and infrastructure planning for complex essential hospitals, including Valley Medical Center and Regional Medical Center.
• Modernization: Modernize highly technical, mission-critical environments to ensure facilities are safe, resilient, and fully operational for patient care.
• Team Leadership: Guide multidisciplinary teams across engineering, building systems, maintenance, environmental services, biomed engineering, telecom, and low-voltage infrastructure.
• Strategic Planning: Develop executive-level recommendations and help inform infrastructure investments that impact the daily lives of millions of residents.
• Community Impact: Ensure every facility supports the County’s mission to advance equity, enhance access to care, and uphold the wellbeing of residents.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Executive. Extensive facilities management experience in a large, complex public or healthcare organization.
• Experience: Demonstrated leadership overseeing engineering, trades, and technical support teams. Proven success working in unionized environments.
• Skills: Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, asset management, and capital planning. Strong background in healthcare facilities, including regulatory compliance, safety, and technical systems. Ability to build trust with leadership, staff, clinicians, and stakeholders.
