Deal Sourcing Analyst | American Operator

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at American Operator, located in Austin, TX. They partner with operators who want to step into leadership, take responsibility for great companies, and continue the work founders spent decades building. This role sits at the very start of the deal process, focused on building relationships and sourcing off-market acquisition opportunities, making it critical for driving the company’s mission and growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Outreach: Proactively research and reach out to target business owners via various channels to generate off-market deal flow.
• Engagement: Lead early conversations with business owners, clearly explaining American Operator’s mission and partnership approach.
• Discovery: Conduct initial discovery meetings to gather baseline information, evaluate fit, and determine next steps for each opportunity.
• Tracking: Maintain and update the CRM with all outreach activity, prospect information, and follow-ups to keep deals moving forward.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Investments team to hand off qualified opportunities and continue nurturing owner relationships.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Others. Interest in private equity, investing, or M&A, and willingness to learn financial basics.
• Experience: 1+ years of experience in sales, business development, or deal sourcing, with cold calling experience highly preferred.
• Skills: Strong communication and relationship-building skills, self-starter ability to manage multiple prospects simultaneously, and experience with CRMs.
• Bonus: Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or a related field; exposure to small business operations; familiarity with basic financial statements.
