Job Description
Tutor Perini Corporation is seeking a highly motivated Data Security & Categorization Intern to support their critical data security and compliance initiatives in their Henderson, NV office. The intern will play a key role in reviewing and accurately categorizing sensitive data identified within their Varonis system, specifically focusing on files containing PII (Personally Identifiable Information), FCI (Federal Contract Information), and CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information). This hands-on internship offers an opportunity to contribute directly to enhancing the company’s data protection posture and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Interns will work approximately 30 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
• Systematically review files identified by Varonis as potentially containing sensitive information (PII, FCI, CUI).
• Examine file content to accurately determine the presence and type of sensitive data.
• Utilize the Varonis system to apply correct data tags and categories to reviewed files.
• Assess file access permissions and identify files with overly broad access (“everyone” access).
• Document review progress, categorization results, and identified permission issues.
• Provide feedback and recommendations on existing data categorization guidelines and processes based on practical experience.
• Assist with other related data security and compliance tasks as needed.
