The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Societe Generale, located in Hong Kong within the IGAD Asia Hub. Societe Generale’s Inspection General and Internal Audit Division (IGAD) serves as the Group’s third line of defense, assessing operational compliance, risk levels, procedure enforcement, and control effectiveness. This Data Scientist role is crucial for reinforcing the Group’s audit capabilities by integrating advanced data analytics into audit missions, educating auditors across Asia, and contributing to the global data analytics community within IGAD.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead Audit Data Analysis: Drive data-driven insights for audit missions by understanding business and operational processes, refining problem statements with a data angle to define key questions, identifying relevant data sources and experts, and collecting data in compliance with information security and data protection policies. Manage the iterative data analysis process from preparation through analysis, documentation of findings, and presentation of conclusions, supporting audit teams with simple analysis and handling advanced techniques in data visualization, statistics, and machine learning.
• Educate and Support Auditors: Champion data literacy across the IGAD Asia team by training auditors on basic data analysis tools and techniques, providing support for simple requests and questions, and hosting knowledge sharing sessions to communicate on data analytics use cases.
• Foster Data Community: Animate the data analytics community in Asia and regularly synchronize with other Data Analysts & Scientists from the Paris Data Lab and other locations to share and develop knowledge on tools and methodologies as a member of the Global IGAD data analytics community.
• Advance Data Capabilities: Coordinate with the IGAD IT Team to develop IGAD’s data science platform and enhance the offer in data analytics tools provided to auditors, while also contributing to the technology watch on Data Science/genAI topics and transversal projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Market Finance, or a related discipline.
• Experience: Real-world experience in dealing with large datasets.
• Skills: Python, R, Fluent English.
• Bonus: Previous working experience in Market Finance.
