Data Science Operations Project Intern (Business Integrity Data Cycling Center) – 2026 Start (BS/MS) | TikTok

The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at TikTok, located in Los Angeles, supporting ByteDance’s global business and intelligent operations. TikTok is a leading destination for short-form mobile video, with a mission to inspire creativity and bring joy. This role within the GMPT-BI-DCC Data Science team is crucial for enhancing operational efficiency and enabling intelligent decision-making across the company’s large-scale global products through advanced analytics and AI systems. The team focuses on data science, AI operations, Agentic AI, and business intelligence.

• Team: GMPT-BI-DCC Data Science team, working at the intersection of Data Science, AI Operations, Agentic AI systems, and business intelligence.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations Support: Build and optimize data workflows, analytics pipelines, and operational monitoring systems to enhance efficiency and scalability for complex business scenarios.
• AI Implementation: Explore and implement Agent-based AI workflows, prompt engineering strategies, and LLM-powered analytics solutions to support intelligent business operations and data-driven decision-making.
• Project Participation: Engage in end-to-end AI operational projects, including data collection, annotation workflow optimization, model evaluation, experimentation, and deployment support.
• Metric Analysis: Analyze operational and quality metrics to identify trends, root causes, and optimization opportunities across AI and data pipelines.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Data Scientists, Product Managers, Engineering, Operations, and global stakeholders in an English-speaking environment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or related quantitative fields.
• Experience: Proficiency in SQL and experience with Python or R for data analysis, automation, or modeling; familiarity with Excel, data analytics workflows, and large-scale data processing tools such as Hive or Spark.
• Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional environments.
• Bonus: Prior internship or project experience in data science, analytics, AI operations, business intelligence, or technical program/project management; familiarity with machine learning concepts, LLMs, prompt engineering, Agent workflows, or AI evaluation methodologies; experience with experimentation, operational analytics, quality measurement, or annotation/labeling workflows; comfortable working in a cross-functional and multicultural global environment.
