Job Description (Detailed)
This internship opportunity is with the TikTok-Data Science team for 2025. The team is responsible for all data science and analytics work, collaborating across key TikTok value chains such including User Growth, PGC, Content Ecosystem, Social, Creation, Product Infrastructure, and Research & Science. The primary goal of the team is to generate actionable insights from data to empower stakeholders in making informed decisions. Their main tasks encompass defining metrics, conducting root cause analyses, developing experimentation methodologies, evaluating features and strategies, and performing exploratory analyses to identify new opportunities.
Internships at TikTok are designed to offer students significant industry exposure and hands-on experience, allowing them to develop fundamental skills and explore potential career paths. Interns will engage in real-world scenarios, participate in social events, and benefit from enriching development workshops to support personal and professional growth.
Responsibilities:
• Participate in the construction and optimization of long-term user value (LTV) models and other user behavior prediction models.
• Use machine learning, deep learning, and other techniques for data mining, and optimize user portraits and behavior analysis.
• Design A/B tests and other causal inference methods to evaluate the model’s performance and promote the implementation of the model in business scenarios.
• Process and clean massive amounts of data, build high-quality datasets, and improve data quality.
• Collaborate with product and data engineering teams to promote the implementation of data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Education Background: Academic background in quantitative fields such as mathematics, statistics, economics, or computer science.
• Analytical Skills: Previous internship or project experience in business analysis or data-related roles, with the ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights. Experience in the ads or marketing industry is a plus.
• Availability: Able to intern at least 3 days per week for a minimum of 3 months.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with Excel, SQL, Python, or R, and foundational knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Think-Cell.
• Communication: Business-level English proficiency with strong verbal and written skills to effectively engage with stakeholders and present findings to non-technical audiences.
• Problem-Solving & Teamwork: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to implement solutions and drive results.
Compensation and Benefits:
The hourly rate range for this Campus Intern position in the selected city is $50 – $50. Benefits may vary based on employment nature and location. Interns receive day one access to health insurance, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, and more. They also receive 10 paid holidays per year and paid sick time (56 hours if hired in the first half of the year, 40 hours if hired in the second half of the year). The company reserves the right to modify these benefits programs at any time.
