The Data Science team at Warner Bros. Discovery is dedicated to gaining a deeper understanding of their customers through data and scientific methods. They collect first-party and third-party data, apply business logic and transformations, and leverage advanced machine learning techniques to enhance the customer experience across their products.

The team is responsible for ingesting, collecting, cleaning, and transforming data. This enables them to create reports and models, communicating insights to internal and external stakeholders. Their work has a significant impact on both the technology organization and the content and marketing teams.

About The Projects You May Work On:

As a Data Science Intern, you will tackle a specific problem area under the guidance of senior team members. You will develop solutions using theoretical concepts learned in academics and apply them to real-world customer, content, and product data. Your work will contribute to the team’s efforts in understanding user behavior and product feature usage.

Expectations:

• Demonstrate curiosity and a desire to learn about the customer, business strategy, and industry.
• Identify and articulate customer problem areas.
• Analyze customer, competitor, and industry knowledge.
• Demonstrate customer empathy.
• Work with supervision on product optimization that aligns with the overall product and business strategy.
• Contribute to well-defined projects and deliver on assignments.

Skills / Experience:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Understanding of machine learning, particularly in the recommendations/personalization domain.
• Coursework in Statistics, Data Science, Data Visualization, Economics, and/or Applied Math/Physics is preferred.
• Strong background and interest in experimentation, recommendation systems, & data visualization.
• Practical experience with SQL, Python, R, or similar languages.
• Knowledge of Databricks, Snowflake, and/or AWS.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Prior experience partnering with engineers, product managers, and technical program managers is a plus.
• Previous experience working with search and personalization of digital products, especially media content, is a plus.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled as a student working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Must be in good academic standing (3.0 or above cumulative GPA).
• Must be a rising junior, senior, or graduate student.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Details about the Global Tech Summer 2025 Program Application Process:

• The internship program runs for 11 weeks, from June 2nd to August 15th.
• The internships are paid opportunities.
• The application deadline is October 25th.
• Interviews are conducted on a rolling basis throughout Fall 2024.
• A cover letter is not required. Please focus on showcasing your relevant experience and passion through your resume.
• Due to the high volume of applications, individual status updates cannot be provided.
• Pay Rate depends on location of internship: $43 – $47 per hour USD.
