Program Details:

  • Duration: 12-weeks (mid-May through August)
  • Compensation: Paid, hourly position.
  • Work Style: Largely in-person role, including training and development through XPO’s official internship program.

What you’ll need to succeed as a Data Science Intern at XPO:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
  • 2 or more years of relevant undergraduate coursework.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education toward a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience programming in Python and working with data-driven libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, etc.).
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.
  • Coursework or project experience in machine learning, predictive modeling, or statistical analysis.
  • Exposure to modern AI techniques, including deep learning or large language models (LLMs) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Energetic work style with a strong drive to learn and contribute.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to varied audiences.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Partner closely with a dedicated mentor and collaborate with experienced data scientists across the organization.
  • Analyze large, complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  • Develop and evaluate predictive models using machine learning techniques.
  • Communicate results and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders through presentations, reports and visualizations.
  • Work directly with cross-functional business partners to interpret results, iterate on findings and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Gain exposure to innovative applications of AI.
