Data Center Engineering Operations Technician Internship | Amazon Web Services (AWS)

The TL;DR

• Location: In-person, Manassas, VA, requiring travel within the regional work area with a personal vehicle and valid driver’s license.
• Pay: $32–$57 hourly
• Team: Diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers.
• Mission: To help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for AWS customers, with potential for full-time employment upon successful completion.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Equipment Maintenance: Assist in maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment throughout the data center infrastructure.
• Anomaly Investigation: Support root cause analysis for equipment performance issues and potential failures.
• Operational Support: Participate in troubleshooting facility and rack-level operational events to ensure smooth operations.
• Performance Monitoring: Record and analyze daily operational readings and metrics to track infrastructure health.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to infrastructure engineering initiatives.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a Data Center Operations Certificate or Associate Degree program at Northern Virginia Community College, with an expected graduation date of Winter 2026. Candidates must also possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience working with computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Skills: Ability to effectively record, organize, and analyze operational readings and metrics.
• Bonus: Education that includes STEM classes or vocational course curricula. Familiarity or foundational experience with electrical or mechanical fundamentals, such as HVAC systems or general electrical concepts.
