Data Analytics & Engineering Intern | UNCOMN

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Up to 30 hours per week
• Location: St. Louis or Scott AFB area

• Mission: Assist in designing, developing, and analyzing data to create secure solutions that help clients succeed.
• Tech Stack: Python, SQL, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Power BI, Tableau, Git

What You’ll Actually Do
• Design: Assist in designing and organizing relational datasets to support business and operational reporting needs.
• Develop: Support development of data pipelines using Python and SQL to clean, transform, and integrate data from multiple systems.
• Analyze: Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) on structured datasets to identify trends, inconsistencies, and actionable insights.
• Visualize: Create dashboards and visualizations to communicate findings to business stakeholders.
• Improve: Contribute to AI-enabled process improvement initiatives by preparing and validating structured data inputs.
• Collaborate: Collaborate with senior engineers and analysts to test, document, and improve data workflows.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field. Career level: Early Career.
• Experience: Foundational experience with Python, SQL, or another programming language through coursework or personal projects. Must be a US citizen and eligible to obtain a Secret clearance, as needed.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), excellent written and verbal communication, strong research and analytical skills, attention to detail, effective organization and time management, and a positive, eager-to-learn attitude.
• Bonus: Basic understanding of relational databases and structured data concepts, experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar), exposure to APIs or working with data from multiple systems, familiarity with version control (Git) or collaborative development tools, interest in AI, automation, or large language models (LLMs), or participation in relevant coursework, hackathons, or technical student organizations.
