Cyber Security Graduate Intern | NYC Department of Finance (DOF)
The Tone:
This is an internship at NYC Department of Finance (DOF), located in New York, NY. DOF’s Finance Information Technology (FIT) Division designs, builds, and supports all facets of the agency’s computer systems, including hardware, software, applications, infrastructure, telephone, and data security. The division also delivers and administers tax-related payment programs for the City of New York and manages systems for citywide payments, land records, and public safety. This Cyber Security Graduate Intern role is crucial for advancing DOF’s security posture, playing an important part in the successful implementation of key projects like Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), contributing to one of municipal government’s largest cyber security teams.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Processes: Assist with Cyber Security Forms and engage users to streamline request and approval processes.
• Risk Management: Support security efforts through the development and application of systemic risk categories across critical infrastructure domains.
• Analysis: Assist with malware analytics, risk management, and testing activities.
• Improvements: Provide recommendations to the CyberSecurity team for improving customer service and internal processes.
• Monitoring: Recognize problems by identifying abnormalities and report security violations as they occur.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at an accredited college, university, or law school.
• Experience: Aptitude for assisting with cyber security projects and initiatives, including those related to data loss prevention (DLP) and security information and event management (SIEM).
• Skills: Possess technical talent, a strong work ethic, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to contribute to a high-performing team.
