Project Finance Credit – Vice President | Mizuho

The Tone:

This position is crucial for maintaining the financial health and risk integrity of Mizuho’s extensive project finance portfolio by providing expert credit analysis and strategic recommendations to senior management. The role involves scrutinizing complex financial structures and diverse industry sectors to ensure sound credit decisions and robust portfolio management.

The TL;DR

• Location: Hybrid, New York City, NY, USA
• Pay: $115000–$185000 yearly
• Team: Project Finance group, reporting to Credit Department management
• Mission: To provide effective credit analysis, approvals, and portfolio management for project finance credits across diverse sectors.
• Tech Stack: Capital IQ, Bloomberg, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint

What You’ll Actually Do
• Credit Application Review: Review and assess credit applications submitted by the front office for various project finance transactions.
• Financial Analysis: Provide effective analysis of credit, including financial structure, risk-return profiles, collateral risk, and identification of key transaction risks.
• Financial Modeling: Create various projection, recovery, and other financial models, critically commenting on the reasonableness of assumptions.
• Credit Opinion Preparation: Prepare accurate, clear, well-organized, and complete written summary analyses (Credit Opinions) with recommendations for approval or decline.
• Portfolio Monitoring: Proactively monitor and assess assigned borrowers and industries, reporting impacts on credits to Senior Management in a timely manner and recommending appropriate risk ratings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or Economics, or a strong quantitative background; career level implied by Vice President title.
• Experience: 5+ years of formalized credit training from an accredited financial institution and proficient financial modeling skills.
• Skills: Proven credit analysis skills with in-depth knowledge of project finance and structured finance markets, ability to accurately identify and evaluate underlying risk elements, strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Bonus: MBA or CFA is desired.
