Assistant Vice President, Credit Management, Financial Institutions (5-month Fixed Contract) | Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group

This is a 5-month fixed-term contract role at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, located in Singapore – Marina One. This is an important hire within the Credit Management department, requiring a high-calibre individual to manage complex financial institution transactions and provide crucial risk guidance to support the bank’s growth ambitions.

The TL;DR

• Mission: Analyse and make recommendations on counterparty transaction proposals for new and existing sovereign and financial institution clients within A&O, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and supporting business growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Evaluate: Responsible for the evaluation of credit applications, internal ratings, and transaction proposals for new or existing sovereign and financial institution clients in A&O, including reviewing and challenging business analyses.
• Guide: Provide solutions and value to the Business by engaging in client and transaction discussions, offering clear guidance on policy and risk appetite, and influencing transaction structures and terms to mitigate risk.
• Present: Clearly and concisely present transactions to senior Business and ICD management, both locally and overseas, demonstrating deep knowledge of clients and proposals, and providing bankability views or alternative solutions.
• Monitor: Proactively track and monitor the allocated portfolio and clients from specific, sector, and country perspectives, identifying and flagging issues with stakeholders and formulating mitigating actions for material risks.
• Collaborate: Actively participate in term sheet, loan documentation, and ISDA/CSA reviews and discussions with Business stakeholders, influencing content and credit terms to ensure they are acceptable from a risk and commercial standpoint.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum 5 years of financial sector experience, including 3-5 years of knowledge in FI portfolio coverage, with a strong graduate or post-graduate academic record.
• Experience: Proven experience in risk analysis and formulating credit recommendations for sovereign and financial institution counterparties across multiple jurisdictions in Asia and/or Oceania, demonstrating comprehensive product knowledge in traditional lending, trade finance, structured transactions, and traded products.
• Skills: Deep analytical skills and the ability to think laterally to find solutions, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, excellent attention to detail and accuracy, and strong written and verbal communication.
• Bonus: Experience in assessing M&A, leveraged finance, and/or real estate transactions, or experience dealing with deteriorating and/or impaired loans, as well as a track record of contributing beyond business-as-usual credit risk management.
