Internship – Hedge Funds Credit Risk | Societe Generale

The Tone:
This is an internship at Societe Generale, located in-person in New York, NY. Societe Generale is a 44,282-person organization committed to strengthening bonds with colleagues, communities, and the world in which we live. This role is crucial within the HF Risk Group, seeking a motivated Credit Analyst to support daily activities and quickly grow into handling an independent portfolio of clients. The position aims for the candidate to independently assess hedge fund credit risk and contribute to transaction structuring.

The TL;DR

What You’ll Actually Do
• Due Diligence & Reporting: Attend Hedge Fund and Fund of Funds due diligences with a senior analyst, then complete comprehensive reports and rating models.
• Transaction Structuring: Contribute to the structuring of transactions by coordinating efforts with legal, sales, and engineering groups.
• Client & Portfolio Management: Manage client credit lines and transaction parameters, while also monitoring the portfolio and addressing exceptions.
• System Proficiency: Build proficiency with all systems and platforms utilized by the HF Risk Group for daily operations and analysis.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level professional graduated with a degree from a Business/Engineering School or University in Finance.
• Experience: Prior experience in the financial industry is required; previous experience in Investment Banking or with Hedge Funds is appreciated.
• Skills: Good analytical skills, strong writing skills, a self-starter attitude, good communication skills, and expertise in financial analysis and financial statements. Extensive knowledge in Excel and familiarity with various types of databases and platforms.
• Bonus: Experience with Hedge Fund analysis, ISDA negotiation, Derivative trading knowledge, relevant industry associations, working knowledge of prime brokerage and/or margin guidelines, and proficiency with Python and/or VBA.
