Creative Media Assistant (Student Employee) | Coastal Carolina University

The Tone:
This is a student employee position at Coastal Carolina University, located in Conway, SC. The Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) department supports student-athletes by providing academic resources and promoting their achievements. This role is crucial for enhancing the department’s digital presence, highlighting student-athlete experiences, and engaging the university community through compelling content on social media and other platforms. It offers hands-on experience to build a professional portfolio and develop creative skillsets.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Hours Vary (temporary), 5 hours per week
• Location: In-person, Conway, SC
• Pay: $8.00 – $10.00 per hour
• Team: Student-Athlete Academic Services, reporting to Lindsay Normile
• Mission: This role creates engaging digital content and maintains the department’s social media presence to promote student-athlete experiences and department initiatives.
• Tech Stack: Instagram, X, Canva, CapCut

What You’ll Actually Do
• Digital Content Production: Capture photos and videos during SAAS events, programming, and student-athlete activities, assisting in the creation of engaging social media content and recording short-form video content and interviews.
• Social Media Engagement & Strategy: Help maintain consistent activity across department social media platforms, assist in developing content strategies to increase student engagement, and monitor social media trends for creative implementation.
• Multimedia Project Assistance: Support the design and creation of semesterly SAAS newsletters, help update and maintain office slideshow displays, and assist with additional creative and promotional projects as assigned.
• Professional Conduct & Timeliness: Represent SAAS professionally when interacting with student-athletes, demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills, and complete all assigned projects and content requests in a timely manner.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Active CCU student with an interest in social media, content creation, sports media, marketing, or digital communications.
• Experience: Familiarity with Instagram, X, and basic content creation platforms such as Canva and CapCut.
• Skills: Strong communication, organization, and creativity skills; ability to work independently and manage time effectively; reliability and detail-oriented approach.
• Bonus: Experience managing social media accounts or creating digital content, and/or experience with photography, videography, graphic design, or video editing.
