Creative Media Assistant (Student Employee) | Coastal Carolina University
The Tone:
This is a student employee position at Coastal Carolina University, located in Conway, SC, within the Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) department. The SAAS team provides essential support to student-athletes, and this role is crucial for enhancing their digital outreach and communication throughout the academic year. The Creative Media Assistant will contribute significantly to showcasing student-athlete achievements, promoting SAAS programs, and fostering community through engaging online content. This position offers invaluable practical experience in content creation and social media management, building a professional portfolio and refining creative skills over the course of the school year.

• Pay: $8.00 – $10.00 hourly
• Team: Student-Athlete Academic Services, reporting to Lindsay Normile
• Mission: To create engaging digital content and manage social media for SAAS, enhancing student-athlete recognition and department visibility.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Content Creation and Capture: Capture high-quality photos and videos during various SAAS events, programming sessions, and student-athlete activities, including recording short-form video content and conducting interviews to gather compelling narratives.
• Social Media Strategy and Execution: Assist with creating and curating engaging social media content specifically for Instagram and X, and actively participate in brainstorming creative content ideas and comprehensive social media campaigns.
• Digital Presence Management: Support the consistent and active presence across the department’s social media platforms, contributing to the development of content strategies aimed at increasing student engagement and expanding the department’s social media following.
• Internal and External Communications: Help with the design and creation of semesterly SAAS newsletters, and regularly update office slideshow displays to feature current athletic updates, internship opportunities, student-athlete recognitions, and key department announcements.
• Media Organization and Professionalism: Systematically organize and maintain all media files for efficient future access, diligently complete assigned projects and content requests in a timely manner, and consistently demonstrate professionalism when representing SAAS and interacting with student-athletes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be an actively enrolled Coastal Carolina University student with a strong interest in fields such as social media management, digital content creation, sports media, marketing, or broader digital communications.
• Experience: Demonstrated familiarity with key social media platforms including Instagram and X, along with basic content creation tools like Canva and CapCut; ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and creative problem-solving skills, coupled with a reliable and detail-oriented approach to tasks and projects.
• Bonus: Prior experience managing social media accounts or creating digital content, and/or practical experience with photography, videography, graphic design, or video editing software.
