Job Description: Cost Accounting and Operations FP&A Internship at Pulsafeeder (an IDEX business):
This is a summer internship (with flexible timing based on school requirements) offering hands-on experience in cost accounting and financial planning & analysis (FP&A) within a manufacturing environment. The internship is specifically at Pulsafeeder, a company within the IDEX group. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and driven Accounting or Finance student eager to gain practical experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Cost Accounting: Reporting daily receipts and inventory tracking; calculating and reporting utilization metrics; completing cost rolls for inventory standard costing; updating monthly and quarterly forecasts related to gross profit.
• SOX Controls: Assisting with the annual internal audit by gathering necessary support for assigned controls; completing monthly SOX controls in partnership with the Accounting/Finance team.
• Business Partnership: Collaborating with Operations to achieve monthly sales targets; working with manufacturing and supply chain leaders to plan inventory levels for optimal customer lead times and inventory turnover; creating cost forecast templates for various departments and reviewing expense trends with senior leadership.
• Month-End / P&L Reporting: Supporting regular financial processes, including closing the books, forecasting, planning, reporting, and analysis, focusing on revenue to gross margin; creating journal entries in the JD Edwards system; reviewing monthly results against forecasts and identifying variance drivers; conducting deeper dives into account activity as needed.
Required Skills and Abilities:
• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic knowledge of finance/accounting principles. (A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.)
Compensation and Benefits:
The internship is hourly, non-exempt, with a pay range of $20.00 – $21.00 per hour. The annualized equivalent compensation range is $32,500.00 – $48,700.00, depending on experience, and may include a performance-based bonus plan.
