Cost Accountant – Encore Program Internship | Texas Instruments
The Tone:
This is a paid, 12-week internship at Texas Instruments, located in Dallas, TX, offered through the Encore Program. Texas Instruments is a global semiconductor company that designs, manufactures, and sells analog and embedded processing chips for diverse markets like industrial, automotive, and data centers. As a Cost Accountant, you will be a vital contributor, solving real problems and collaborating with teams to ensure financial accuracy, manage inventory valuation, and maintain compliance with accounting principles, ultimately contributing to the company’s core mission.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Manage monthly and quarterly financial closes, including P&L, balance sheet actuals, and inventory valuation, ensuring full compliance with ICC, TI Policies & Procedures, and GAAP.
• Pricing Management: Own OTC and AIP pricing activities, covering new material setup, quarterly pricing cycles, and impact analysis.
• Contract Support: Support contract accounting requirements for licensing, cost tracking, reimbursement (NRE), royalty implications, and inventory tracking.
• Balance Sheet Adjustments: Independently determine the need for and appropriateness of balance sheet adjustments such as inventory reserves, expense accruals, prepaids, and capital accruals.
• Operational Collaboration: Collaborate with finance and management teams on operational performance reviews, finance actuals reviews, cost reduction activities, and ad hoc analysis.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related business field.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of work-related experience, coupled with a career break of at least 2 continuous years.
• Skills: In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, including GAAP and managerial cost accounting; strong understanding of internal control principles and accounting policies; demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills; effective verbal and written communication.
• Bonus: Proficiency in SAP, Excel, BPC, and Business Objects; fundamental understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes; strong organizational, strategic, and critical thinking abilities.
