Corporate Accounting Specialist – Reporting – Intern | Farm Credit Services of America

The Tone:
This is an internship at Farm Credit Services of America, located in Omaha, NE. The company operates as a collaborative of financial cooperatives, including AgCountry, FCSAmerica, and Frontier Farm Credit, providing essential credit, crop insurance, and financial services to farmers and ranchers across eight states. This role is crucial in supporting the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of financial and regulatory reports, directly contributing to the financial health and mission of serving rural America.

• Mission: Support financial and regulatory reporting by ensuring all reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with relevant accounting principles and regulations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reporting Review: Assist with first-line reviews of monthly financial statements, shareholder reports, FCA Call Reports, and other related supporting schedules.
• Reconciliation & Resolution: Prepare and review daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger balance sheet reconciliations, researching and coordinating the timely resolution of discrepancies.
• External Reporting Support: Support quarterly information requests from AgriBank and assist with CoBank Frontier CMR reporting requirements.
• Financial Analysis: Complete variance, materiality, and ad hoc analyses of financial results, and support the development of PCA/FLCA allocations and annual patronage programs.
• Process & Audit Contribution: Recommend and assist with process improvements, reporting-system enhancements, updates to accounting processes, and support internal and external audit activities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Business, Banking, Finance, or a related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Experience: No prior professional experience is required; this role is designed for students pursuing relevant academic studies.
• Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
