2027 Summer Corporate Intern – Accounting | Caterpillar Inc.

The Tone:
This is a 12-week, full-time onsite internship at Caterpillar Inc. The role is offered across multiple locations including Peoria, IL, East Peoria, IL, Mossville, IL, Morton, IL, Mapleton, IL, Seguin, TX, Irving, TX, FT. Worth, TX, Houston, TX, Lafayette, IN, Franklin, IN, and Cary, NC. • Mission: Perform entry-level accounting tasks to support financial operations and contribute to special projects across various accounting areas.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reporting: Create reports on financial performance for internal and external use.
• Projects: Take part in special projects and ad hoc reporting requests.
• Forecasting: Estimate various forecast and budget scenarios.
• Data Management: Specify, build, maintain, and run data extracts from various subsystems that contain account-level information.
• Reconciliation: Post entries, verify, and reconcile input to financial reporting systems.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be currently pursuing a degree at a 4-year accredited university/college in an Accounting degree program, at the time of application and throughout the internship program. Career level: Entry-Level.
• Experience: Minimum 12 completed semester hours at a 4-year university before the start of the internship.
• Skills: Accuracy and Attention to Detail, Analytical Thinking, Effective Communications, Problem Solving, Intermediate user of Microsoft Excel.
• Bonus: Previous accounting internship and/or relevant work experience, completion of Intermediate Accounting or a first 300-level accounting course by the start of the internship, strong initiative and interpersonal skills, leadership involvement in student associations.
