Job Description

Job Title: Coordinator, Orientation & Engagement

Department: New Student & Family Programs

Responsibilities:

  • Orientation Leader Program Management: Provides comprehensive management of the Orientation Leader Program, encompassing recruitment, selection, hiring, onboarding, training, supervision, and leadership development for student orientation staff.
  • First-Year & Campus Engagement Events: Plans and executes key first-year and campus engagement events, including initiatives like “First Day Photos,” “Ask A Nole,” and the “FSU Birthday Celebration.”
  • Student Retention & Belonging Initiatives: Supports additional welcome initiatives throughout the year, collaborating with campus partners to promote student retention and connection, tradition, and a sense of belonging among new students.
  • Assessment & Strategic Projects: Assists with departmental assessment and strategic projects. This includes designing and analyzing surveys and program evaluations, contributing to data-informed improvements, and preparing reports that guide the development of programs and services.
  • Departmental Contribution: Contributes to the overall work of New Student & Family Programs by participating in departmental events (such as Orientation and Family Weekend), engaging in committee work, and collaborating on cross-functional projects. Assists with special initiatives and serves as a liaison to campus partners as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field with two years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a high school diploma/equivalent and six years of related experience (or a combination of post-high school education and experience totaling six years).
  • Preferred: Master’s degree.

Anticipated Salary Range:

The anticipated starting salary for this position is in the mid $40,000’s, commensurate with experience and education.
