Entry Level Contract Specialist | Pike Corporation

The Tone:
This is an Entry Level role at Pike Corporation, located in Charlotte, NC. Pike is a leading provider of construction, repair, and engineering services for electric and gas utilities, as well as telecommunications companies, with a growing portfolio of turnkey renewable projects. This role is crucial in supporting project management and field operations by ensuring all necessary contractual information is available, enabling safe, cost-effective, and timely work per specifications.

• Mission: This person ensures Pike’s project management and field operations teams are supplied with the pertinent contractual information necessary to perform all work per specification.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Estimate and Propose: Assist with estimates and proposals for site-specific projects and master service agreements.
• Review Project Documents: Review project plans and specifications and coordinate with the project team to confirm the complete scope of work.
• Customer Engagement: Participate in customer pre-bid meetings and build effective relationships with customers and design teams.
• Contract Management Support: Assist with contract negotiation, establishment of contract systems, and management of subcontractors and material procurement.
• Emergency Response: Manage and support emergency and storm restoration events.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level professional with a 4-year college degree, preferably in engineering or business management.
• Experience: Knowledge of project management fundamentals and working knowledge of personal computers and software applications, with proficiency in MS Office.
• Skills: Strong mathematical, communication (written and oral), computer, organizational, planning, and time management skills; high attention to detail; and a general understanding of Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus, and Unit contract pricing mechanisms.
• Bonus: Proven success in developing and maintaining internal and external relationships, ability to assist with multiple projects simultaneously, and working knowledge of techniques needed to lead and influence others in a matrix organization.
