About Content Design at Slack:
The content design team is part of Slack’s larger Design organization. They specialize in language, working alongside visual and interaction designers, product managers, and user researchers to shape the complete product experience. Their mission is to make Slack experiences clear, intuitive, and enjoyable for all users, helping people accomplish their work while maintaining a human-centered approach. The team emphasizes feedback, mentoring, and coaching both within the team and with cross-functional partners interested in language and content design.
Job Description:
What you’ll do:
• Collaborate closely with a mentor and design leadership to define project specifics and contribute to the overall direction of your product area.
• Co-design or independently design workflows, using prototypes, sketches, and high-fidelity visuals to communicate ideas and solutions.
• Partner with engineering, research, and product management teams to ensure high-quality implementation and a polished user experience.
• Gather and integrate feedback from your mentor, other designers, and cross-functional team members.
• Develop content strategy frameworks, messaging guidelines, and component-level language guidelines.
• Learn and apply content-first design methods to guide design direction and decision-making.
What you should have:
• Expected graduation in December 2025 or later with a degree in liberal arts, library science, human-computer interaction, informatics, or a related field.
• A portfolio demonstrating a strong foundation in writing and developing taxonomies for various audiences and formats, along with research methods and idea generation.
• Experience with systems thinking/design, including the ability to identify system components, describe their relationships, and explain how they work together to achieve an outcome.
• Experience collaborating with diverse teams in dynamic environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have:
• Proficiency in web technologies and design software (e.g., Figma, Sketch).
• Currently pursuing a design degree.
• Experience defining product features.
