Job Description:

This is a paid internship opportunity based in Parsippany, NJ. The intern will be working onsite and will be involved in various aspects of FM Global’s operations, including:

Technical Training: Participate in training programs to learn the fundamentals of building construction, occupancy, protection, and exposures (COPE) as it relates to risk assessment and risk mitigation. Gain an understanding of fire protection systems.
Field Experience: Shadow FM Field Engineers during site visits to commercial properties. This will involve hands-on assessment of the physical property, including roofs, mechanical and electrical equipment, and identification of potential loss hazards.
Risk Analysis & Communication: Learn to analyze risks, communicate recommendations and engineering solutions to clients, and document the risk analysis of visited locations.
Project Management: Lead and deliver a technical project determined by FM Supervisors.
Company Overview: Shadow professionals in various departments to gain a holistic understanding of FM Global and the engineering team.
Professional Development: Visit other FM Global locations, participate in professional development events with other interns.

Qualifications:

Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) or Fire Protection.
Availability: Able to work full-time during the summer internship.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Analytical Skills: Good analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Time Management: Efficient time management skills.
Project Management: Ability to undertake and deliver projects with minimal supervision.
Technical Aptitude: Solid technical aptitude including diverse knowledge of engineering principles.
Physical Requirements: Ability to climb ladders, lift over 25 lbs., balance, and work at elevated heights.
Transportation: Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle throughout the internship.
Location: Ability to commute to Malvern, Pennsylvania throughout the internship.
Software Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office products.
