Job Description: Construction Project Inspector/Coordinator
This role involves performing critical inspection, coordination, and administrative duties to ensure construction projects adhere to contract requirements and department standards. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, contractors, and utility companies, playing a vital role in the successful execution of assigned construction projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Inspection & Compliance: Performs comprehensive inspection duties to ensure the contractor adheres strictly to contract requirements and standard specifications.
- Project Support: Assists project managers in making routine daily decisions regarding construction practices on assigned projects.
- Coordination: Facilitates seamless coordination between the contractor and the Department to maintain project progress.
- Documentation & Reporting: Ensures all data is accurately collected and compiled in daily dairies and construction reports in accordance with Department policy.
- Final Plans Responsibility: Is responsible for the final construction plans for assigned projects.
- Material Quality Assurance: Verifies that proper sampling and testing of materials are performed according to Department specifications.
- Utility Coordination: Coordinates with utility companies for the timely relocation of utilities on assigned construction projects.
- Administrative & Managerial Assistance: Provides assistance with office and managerial procedures, including corresponding with contractors and Department personnel on assigned projects.
- Emergency Response: Assists with emergency and inclement weather operations as needed, which may require working extended hours and/or 12-hour shifts.
- Other Duties: Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Education: A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
Physical Requirements:
The essential functions of this position require various physical demands, including:
- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
- Frequent travel may be required.
- May involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling.
- Requires driving and walking for extended periods, often treading rough and uneven terrain.
- Working in close proximity to motoring traffic and exposure to natural environmental hazards.
- May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.
- Exposure to outside environmental conditions in all weather and noise levels.
License: A motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
