Blythe Construction, Inc., along with Hubbard Construction Company, Northeast Paving, Sunmount Paving, and Virginia Paving Company, are all referred to as Vinci Construction USA. They are seeking a Construction Intern in Yadkinville.
Job Description: Construction Intern
This internship provides hands-on experience in road construction for college students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction Management. The program offers a realistic view of the industry through a variety of responsibilities.
Key Duties:
• Project Management Support: Assisting the project management team with subcontractor and supplier coordination, material tracking, file management (including submittals, RFIs, and change orders), and progress reporting.
• Field Work: Collaborating with field supervisors on project layout, setting control lines, surveying, construction drawing and trade coordination, verification of field conditions, and quality control.
Qualifications:
• Education: Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction Management.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in PC skills, including software such as Excel, Primavera, and SAP. Familiarity with construction industry practices is preferred, but previous internship experience is not mandatory.
• Communication: Ability to effectively communicate and understand instructions from job site supervisors and colleagues.
• Physical Demands: The job requires the ability to regularly sit and/or stand for at least eight hours, occasionally stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb. Frequent lifting and carrying of 50-90 pounds is also required. The role involves continuous mental focus and exposure to dust, dirt, grease, and noise. Work at heights up to 60 feet (using ladders, scaffolds, and stair towers) and on uneven surfaces is expected, often in varying weather conditions. A flexible schedule is necessary.
• Work Environment: The position is primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, with exposure to high noise levels, grease, dust, and common construction site materials (form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, and ready-mix concrete). Work is near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
