Internship Program Description

Adolfson & Peterson Construction is seeking applications for paid internships. This program offers a comprehensive introduction to the construction industry, providing valuable hands-on experience under the supervision of full-time team members.

Interns will receive varied experiences, gaining exposure to both field and office-based disciplines. These may include, but are not limited to:

• Safety: Learning about our Incident and Injury Free culture, where safety is paramount and embedded into everything we do.
• Preconstruction: Understanding the initial planning and design phases of projects.
• Project Management: Gaining insights into the execution, monitoring, and control of construction projects.
• Field Operations: Experiencing on-site construction processes and management.
• Accounting: Learning about financial management within a construction company.
• Business Development: Exploring strategies for client acquisition and relationship building.
• MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing): Understanding the coordination and installation of these critical systems.
• Virtual Construction: Working with advanced technologies like BIM (Building Information Modeling).
• Marketing: Learning about communication strategies and brand promotion.
• Human Resources: Gaining exposure to talent management and employee relations.

Interns are expected to absorb information to further their knowledge academically and professionally, contributing to AP’s mission of going beyond the build for our employees and communities.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in a subject related to the focus of the internship (e.g., Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, HR, Marketing).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
• Physical agility to stand, sit, walk, climb, push, balance, and kneel.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 100 pounds.
• Willingness to work in various (sometimes extreme) climate conditions.
• Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
• Strong analytical and logic skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of precision on detailed work.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to efficiently balance multiple priorities simultaneously under time constraints.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
