Construction Accountant | Staff Financial Group

This is a full-time role at a growing and well-established commercial construction company, located in Metro Atlanta. The company builds various commercial projects and is seeking a dedicated accounting professional to support its financial operations. This role is crucial for ensuring financial accuracy and operational efficiency across construction projects, offering a direct pathway to increased responsibility and future accounting leadership within the department.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Operations: Oversee construction accounting activities across multiple projects and ensure accurate financial record-keeping.
• Accounts Payable Management: Administer construction accounts payable, including processing invoices, performing job cost coding, and managing vendor payment processes.
• Compliance & Documentation: Review and maintain Certificates of Insurance (COIs), lien waivers, vendor compliance documentation, and track paid-when-paid requirements.
• Financial Reporting Support: Assist with month-end close, account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and project financial reporting.
• System Optimization & Growth: Support the implementation and optimization of Procore, partner with project managers and accounting leadership, and prepare for future accounting leadership responsibilities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, combined with a stable employment history.
• Experience: 3–5+ years of accounting experience, with a critical requirement for strong construction accounting experience, including project accounting, job costing, and vendor compliance.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of construction job costing, project accounting, construction accounts payable, lien waivers, Certificates of Insurance (COIs), and paid-when-paid processes. Possess strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Bonus: Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise and Procore (Cost Management and Project Management) is a strong plus, alongside a clear desire to grow into a broader construction accounting and future accounting leadership role.
