### About The Role & Program: Concept Design Intern

Walt Disney Imagineering is seeking a passionate and talented Concept Design Intern to join our team, responsible for envisioning, developing, and communicating the creative concepts and compelling content that bring our theme park attractions and other themed entertainment venues to life.
The Concept Design team is at the forefront of innovation, providing the initial creative direction for everything from intricate show models and elaborate sets to captivating characters and breathtaking scenic elements. This is achieved through a diverse array of artistic mediums, including traditional paint, sketching, storyboarding, and advanced computer art. Beyond initial ideation, the team meticulously develops ideas, utilizing both digital and traditional tools to articulate buildable designs and steadfastly guiding the creative vision through every stage of production and installation.
This exciting internship is scheduled to run from approximately May/June 2026 to December 2026 and will be located in either Orlando, FL, or Glendale, CA.

### What You Will Do
As a Concept Design Intern, you will have the extraordinary opportunity to:
• Provide Hands-On Concept Design Support: Contribute significantly to the visual development of models, sets, animation, show elements, ride experiences, and scenic components. Your artistic expression will encompass a wide range of mediums, including:
• Traditional Art & Illustration: From detailed sketches to vibrant paintings.
• Architectural Renderings & Drawings: Visualizing spaces and structures.
• Storyboarding: Crafting dynamic narratives and sequences.
• 2D & 3D Digital Design: Leveraging modern tools for design and visualization.
• Graphics & Multimedia: Developing compelling visual communication.
• Engage in Multi-Project Involvement: Work across diverse projects, with potential participation in high-energy brainstorming sessions for new attractions or groundbreaking entertainment venues.
• Collaborate Creatively: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, actively participating in the collaborative development of innovative ideas and creative solutions.

### Required Qualifications & Skills
We are seeking candidates who possess:
• Exceptional Communication Skills: Ability to clearly articulate the status of all assignments, discuss illustrations at various stages of completion, and effectively implement alterations and adjustments as required.
• Strong Design & Illustration Proficiency: Demonstrated excellence in creating illustrative work across multiple formats, including compelling character sketches, dynamic storyboards, richly colored illustrations, impactful POVs (points of view), high-quality presentation art, effective marketing materials, and aspirational concept pieces.
• Production-Oriented Illustrative Experience: Proven experience in producing illustrative work specifically for presentations, marketing campaigns, and comprehensive design packages that facilitate the design and build efforts of complex projects.
• Diverse Artistic Knowledge: Broad knowledge and proficiency in a variety of artistic subjects, styles, and media.
• Excellent Creative Problem-Solving: A keen ability to approach and resolve design challenges with innovative and imaginative solutions.
• Accomplished Visual Storytelling: The capacity to communicate compelling narratives and evoke emotion through visual means.
• Valid Driver’s License: Required for potential travel between sites or errands.

### Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates may also bring:
• Outstanding Concept Visualization: Exceptional skills in translating abstract ideas into concrete visual concepts, with practical experience highly valued.
• Environmental Graphic Design Skills: Experience in the creation of impactful signage, marquees, and other environmental graphics that enhance themed spaces.
• Typography Expertise: A strong understanding and application of typographic principles.
• Background in Arts, Theater, or Entertainment: Formal training or significant experience in these fields.
• Relevant Academic Pursuit: Currently earning a degree in fine arts, theater, animation, architecture, or environmental design.
• Prior Disney Experience: Previous involvement with Disney programs or a strong knowledge of the company’s history and projects.

### Education
• Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher attending an accredited college/university, actively pursuing a degree in the arts or a related design field.

### Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this exceptional opportunity MUST meet all of the following criteria:
• Academic Enrollment: Be actively enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree, taking at least one class at the time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Age Requirement: Be at least 18 years of age.
• Work Authorization: Possess unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
• Prior Disney Experience Limit: Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.

### Compensation
The pay rate for this role in Orlando, FL, or Glendale, CA, is:
• $26.50 per hour for undergraduate students.
• $27.50 per hour for graduate-level students.
