Compensation & People Analytics Intern | Smartly

The Tone:
This is an internship at Smartly. The company builds AI-powered advertising technology that transforms ad experiences for brands and their consumers. This role is crucial for supporting data-driven initiatives within the People team, providing hands-on experience with real workforce and compensation data. The intern will contribute to high-impact projects, exploring how analytics and emerging tools shape decision-making.

The TL;DR

• Mission: Support data-driven initiatives and explore how analytics and emerging tools enhance People and Compensation decisions.
• Tech Stack: Excel, Google Sheets, Tableau (or similar), Workday (or similar HR systems), AI (emerging tools)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Development: Support the creation of curated, analysis-ready HR datasets covering headcount, attrition, and hiring trends.
• Data Quality: Assist in maintaining high data quality through validation checks, regular refresh processes, and clear documentation.
• Data Analysis: Analyze HR and compensation data to generate valuable insights and provide support for ongoing People team projects.
• Reporting & Dashboards: Help improve and redesign existing dashboards and reporting tools using Excel, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Compensation Support: Assist with compensation-related analyses, including job pricing, structuring new roles, and salary survey submissions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field such as HR, Analytics, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Information Systems, or Computer Science.
• Experience: Comfort working with data in Excel or Google Sheets, including pivot tables, formulas, and data manipulation, or demonstrated strong aptitude to learn these skills quickly.
• Skills: High attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies and gaps in data, strong written communication skills to translate data into clear insights, and a proactive, collaborative working style.
• Bonus: Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, exposure to HR systems such as Workday or other workforce data, or previous coursework/projects in data analysis, statistics, or HR analytics.
